The Kensington’s third floor has always been set aside for independent residents. Because of The Kensington’s many services and social opportunities, seniors were historically attracted to these apartments and enjoyed the freedom they offered.
Over the last several years, the demographics and housing situation in Williston has dramatically changed thanks to an upsurge in the energy industry. The Independent Apartments on our third floor are now attracting the interest of a younger group of people. After careful consideration, The Kensington has decided to create a way to offer limited accommodations to those corporations who are helping to bring much-needed infrastructure and support to Williston and the immediate area.
Our reasons for this decision are as follows:
Unlike most of the nation, northwest North Dakota is blessed with a surplus of work. Everyone is hiring. While The Kensington has a wonderful staff for our existing family of residents, at this time we cannot continue to grow without adding a substantial number of new, skilled employees. Like our neighbors all over Williston, we find this to be a challenge.
At the same time, we very much want to continue improving our building, offering competitive wages and giving our residents the very best care and amenities we can provide. To do this, we need to increase revenue.
Our solution is to offer a solution. The Williston area desperately needs infrastructure. By working with specifically selected companies that fulfill infrastructure needs, we have created viable, short-term housing for those who meet our requirements. Our new guests follow our rules and expectations. They are respectful, hard working and do not require skilled nursing care, allowing us to focus on our assisted living community.
Ultimately, our goal is to continue making The Kensington a wonderful place for seniors to live while helping Williston meet the needs of a swiftly growing community.
