Aging is a process, not a problem. We start aging the moment we’re born.

Along the way, circumstances change. Plans change. Even bodies and minds change. Yet no matter where we are on the road of life, we’re the same people inside.
At Kensington-Evergreen, that enduring spirit within is cherished.
So along with great food, exceptional health care, and gracious surroundings, you'll find the Outlook philosophy. It's a new way to look at aging. And it's an approach to care that focuses on making the most of every day by recognizing the three basic needs we will always have:
· To make decisions about our own lives;
· To do the things we can still do for ourselves; and
· To do what we can for others.
After all, the joys of life have nothing to do with age.
We're never too old to reach out to someone, discover something new, or enjoy the beauty around us. The human capacity to grow is ageless.
You can feel the difference the moment you walk in. These are happy places – busy and full of interesting people. Alive with children and pets; learning and laughing; music, massages and more. There’s a real feeling of family, where people help each other to live with courage, dignity and purpose.
Needs may change over time, but the things that matter most do not. Life at Kensington-Evergreen is about people, perspective, and finding peace. It's about Rewarding Life Experience.
The Outlook philosophy is for the people who live in our residences as well as those who work in them. It's based on our commitment to:
-
Strengthen families and relationships between people of all ages
-
Create moments of joy by making meaningful connections
-
Make daily life fun and interesting through variety, spontaneity and humor
-
Improve self esteem with opportunities to give care and share talents or wisdom
-
Build legacies by learning and telling each person's life story
-
View difficulties as challenges to rouse and encourage the human spirit to grow
-
Nurture, support and celebrate diversity and freedom of choice
-
Promote better health through engaging activities and less dependency on medication
-
Approach life as an adventure -- a journey to explore mental, physical and spiritual horizons
-
Demonstrate respect and honor individuality at all times
-
Help people appreciate each other and their place in the world
We put the Outlook philosophy into action through LifeCycles, our one-of-a-kind curriculum of activities. Our aim is to connect residents to staff, families and each other through the natural rhythms that occur through all of life's stages.
Seasonal changes, cherished holidays, family relationships and milestones, even daily routines -- these are universal experiences. They ground us and bind generations together.
Through Lifecycles, every week is an immersion into one familiar topic or theme. Each one of the 52 weekly themes includes:
-
Both group and one-on-one activities
-
Activities to maximize whole person wellness by engaging mind, body and spirit
-
Social opportunities, celebrations and field trips
Coordinating activities are also planned each week for staff and families. Through these activities, surprising connections are made between residents, staff and families. Often, these age groups discover they have a lot more in common than they thought.
Most importantly, residents are encouraged to make their own choices, as well as to explore their life legacy issues.
The best way to experience our philosophy is through a personal visit. Because it's what's inside that matters most.
